I’ve gotta say, this week has definitely been a fun week with a bunch of unexpected turns. I really feel like I have started to adapt and settle into a new school. I’ve figured out a study schedule that works for me, and still gives me enough me time to sit back, and yes watch Netflix. I’ve learned to really utilize the weekends (thanks Gurleen didi (sister)), and use them to finish a lot of my work so I have enough time during the week to study for tests and quizzes.
This Thursday I had a lot of major exams so having that extra time was super helpful. You wanna know the funniest part? Right as I got used to one schedule, the schedule completely changed on Tuesday. The way my school works is that we have a mod schedule. Each mod is 5 weeks, in which you take 3 classes that change throughout the year. So the first mod just ended meaning 3 different classes start on Tuesday. This is great because it is like a new adventure every 5 weeks.
The thing is I haven’t even gotten to the best part of this week yet! This weekend was family weekend, which means that parents come to classes with us and attend various meetings. After 23 years of schooling, my mom got some more this Friday. In honor of the families being present, on Friday we had a Madeira parade down to the school’s new organic turf fields and it was an extremely good time. The school introduced us to a new mascot that lead the parade. We also got lots of free gear like necklaces, foam fingers, and clappers, as we walked down. It was really nice to have so much school spirit because it’s an amazing feeling of pride. The whole school was chanting and cheering at the top of its lungs. There was not one quiet person. On top of all that, there was FREE FOOD. It’s really starting to feel like I’m part of a community and I’m so excited to see what happens next.
GO GO ESCARGOT!!!! (Yes our mascot is a snail)
